Differences Between Friable and Non-Friable Asbestos

  What is friability ? Friability of asbestos is defined as the tendency of ACMs or Asbestos Containing Materials to crumble, chip or break down under pressure or due to abrasion. Asbestos Containing Materials that are easily prone to breaking down and releasing tiny asbestos fibres into the air are called friable materials. These materials could be easily reduced or crumbled to powder by a simple touch. Friable asbestos Friable asbestos is a type of asbestos that is easily prone to breaking down or getting damaged. And realise tiny asbestos fibres into the air. The percentage of asbestos in variable asbestos is 1% in weight. It could get easily damaged by hand.  Non - friable asbestos Non - friable asbestos is a type of asbestos that shows higher resistance to abrasion and damages.
